The Council is calling for nominations for its Charter Halibut Management Committee and for PNCIAC, the Pacific Northwest Crab Industry Advisory Committee.
Charter Halibut Management Committee Vacancy
The Council is soliciting nominations for a vacancy on its Charter Halibut Management Committee, to represent a charter operator in Area 2C. This Committee meets at least twice a year, once in October (typically virtually) and once in-person in Anchorage, AK in December. Additional ad hoc meetings may occur at the discretion of the Committee chair. The Committee serves a central role in providing annual advice on charter halibut management measures (e.g., bag limits and size restrictions) that are expected to keep the charter halibut sector within its catch limit, while minimizing the negative economic impacts to the charter halibut sector to the extent possible. The Committee may also provide recommendations to the Council on other actions related to the charter halibut fishery. The next meeting for the Charter Halibut Management Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, December 2, 2026; 2-6pm in Anchorage, AK.
As per the Terms of Reference, appointments will reflect the Council’s interest in ensuring Committee membership reflects the regional and operational diversity of the charter halibut sector.
Interested persons should submit a letter of interest with a description of relevant experience by November 20, 2026 to the Council’s staff to the Committee, Sarah Marrinan, who will compile nominations for the Council chair’s consideration. Please contact Sarah for more information.
Pacific Northwest Crab Industry Advisory Committee Membership Renewal and Call for Nominations

The Council is also soliciting nominations for Pacific Northwest Crab Industry Advisory Committee (PNCIAC) members to serve for 2027-2028. The role of the PNCIAC is to provide the Alaska Board of Fisheries advice on preseason and in-season management measures for BSAI king and Tanner crab fisheries. The PNCIAC may also provide the Council with recommendations in the areas of management related to BSAI king and Tanner crab fisheries. The PNCIAC Terms of Reference are posted online. The Committee consists of 10 to 15 members that have knowledge and experience in crab harvesting or processing sectors. Meeting timing is at the discretion of the PNCIAC chair and are often virtual. No meetings are currently scheduled.
New nominations may be received by submitting a letter of interest with a description of relevant experience to the Council staff coordinator, Sarah Marrinan by November 30, 2026. Current members who wish to continue on the committee for the upcoming two years should notify Sarah of their interest but need not submit a new letter of interest. Appointments will be made at the conclusion of the December Council meeting. Please contact Sarah for more information.
